2014 Teacher Winner
School: Westlake High School—Fulton County Schools
Chantrise Sims Holliman is completing her 9th year in education and her 9th year as a 9th Grade English teacher at Westlake High School where she also serves as the 9th Grade Academy Coordinator. Raised in Newton, Massachusetts she is the only child of two former educators who instilled in her a love for learning at an early age. Mrs. Holliman has received several honors and recognitions including: Teacher of the Year at Westlake High School for the 2010-2011 school year, finalist for Teacher of the Year for Fulton County Schools the same year, semi-finalist for the Fishman Prize, a national award through The New Teacher Project, and most recently, Master Teacher status from the State of Georgia where she was one of only 3 high school teachers in Fulton County and one of only 58 teachers in the state to receive the endorsement. A passionate educator, she will be the first to tell you that being a teacher was not her first career choice. However, from the moment she stepped foot in front of her first class, she was convinced that teaching is precisely what she was created to do.
