Drew Bowers

2014 Teacher Winner

School: Milton High School—Fulton County Schools
Director of Choral Activities

Drew Bowers is currently the Director of Choral Activities at Milton High School.  He has held that position for 7 years and serves as Co-Department Chair for Fine Arts at Milton and on the Fine Arts Support Team for Fulton County Schools. Drew has been in education for 13 years now. He began by teaching middle school in Carrollton, GA at Carrollton Junior High School. His degree credits include a Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Shorter College and a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from Louisiana State University.  Drew was moved to sing in college after an experience on a high school choir trip to NYC. It was there that he decided to sing and study music. It was not until his junior year in college that the education/conducting bug hit and he wanted to be in a classroom in front of a choir. Drew works with his students as an orchestra of voices. It is the ultimate highlight when they are able to figure it out on their own through hard work and skills. It is a constant goal to create a family atmosphere that allows the students to have failures and successes among their peers in a welcoming environment. The class is structured in a way to create life lessons through music.
